THE PROBABILITY OF GOD'S EXISTENCE - a mathematical formula

~The Sun of China~

I've been wanting to discuss a topic with you all for some time. That is - the probability of God's existence.
I have been a life long believer in God's existence. Ever since I was young I was trained in the Word of God.
In my youth I learned the power of prayer. I had amazing experiences that confirmed my faith.
The most powerful spiritual experience I have ever had was in response to a prayer when I was 9 years old.
Ever since then, I have been 100% confident in the existence of God.
Being a curious lad, I sought out Atheists in my teen years.
I thought that since I was 100% positive in the existence of God that maybe I could help them see the light.
I searched out Science forums online and began entering the discussions.
In my later teen years I was attending a Math class on probability.
It occurred to me that I might be able to calculate the probability of God's existence!
The following equation was the result - it was never geared for 100% accuracy, but it displays a very powerful principle -

~ The power of multiple witnesses ~

- Every single spiritual event has to be FALSE in order to not indicate God’s existence.

------ EXAMPLE ------
Lets say I pray for rain, and then the next day it rains...Maybe based on this one experience the Probability of God = 60% because of him answering the prayer, but maybe a 40% chance it was a coincidence.

Lets say 5 people pray for rain and EVERYONE experienced rain the following day...the only way P(God) = false is if EVERY prayer experience was just a coincidence.

Therefore, in order for each experience to be false, we must multiply their probabilities.
40% * 40% * 40% * 40 % * 40%

If each of these "coin flips" lands on the 40% FALSE, then God is not TRUE based on these experiences. But if ANY of these experiences lands on TRUE, then God MUST be true! All it takes is one experience to prove God's existence!!!

-------------------------
Please fill out this survey below and help me calculate the probability of God's existence!!!!!!!
Here is a survey - please fill out for research data!!
The Probability of God's Existence Survey
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ZBT9RLK
-------------------------
Lets look at the math....
Probablility God exists = 1 – (Probability God doesn’t exist)
In order for God to not exist, every spiritual experience that ever occured must be false, or in other words, every spiritual experience must be a random fact of nature (coincidence) and not a result of God’s influence (supernatural).

[spiritual experience being defined as an unusual turn of events (supposedly supernatural event) that leads one to believe something happening is due to the power of God]

The conclusion that can be drawn from one spiritual experience is binary, it either was because of God (encompassing all supernatural sources) or it was because of nature.

- Every single spiritual event has to be False in order to not indicate God’s existence

------ EXAMPLE ------

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probability
Ex. For a dice to land on 6 twice, % = 1/6 * 1/6. For a dice to land on 6 three times, % = 1/6 * 1/6 * 1/6…etc.)
For God to not exist, each spiritual event must land on FALSE every time - Ex. %No God = %FALSE * %FALSE * %FALSE etc)
-------------------------

Only at least one spiritual event has to be true to equate God’s existence.
P(event FALSE) = 1.00 - P(event TRUE)

------ EXAMPLE ------
Pray and ask God to help you find an item.
Time allotted to fine the item is 60 minutes.
Within any of the 60 minutes, the prayer can occur.
Within any of the 60 minutes, the item can be found.

Spritual Event =>
Prayer Event = 1/60
Finding Event = 1/60
Chance that both events randomly happen within the same minute –
%Chance = 1/60 * 1/60 = 1/360
%Chance = 0.00278

What this means is, under coincidental circumstances, you the prayer event and the finding event would only happen at the same time once every 360 times you lose an item.

But if you keep a journal of ever prayer event and every finding event, you may see that the "coincidence" of finding and prayer occur a lot more often than 1/360 times!!!!
-------------------------

The Probability of God's existence increases at an exponential rate with each spiritual experience.
Think about the thousands of people with documented spiritual experience.
Think about the ratio of documented experiences to undocumented experiences.
Extrapolate out number of spiritual experiences as a percentage of population.
Apply the percentages of spiritual experiences to every population in the history of the earth.

After applying all these factors, the base for the quantity of witnesses of spiritual experiences will be extremely high.

With all of these witnesses over time, the probability that ALL of them are wrong is very small.

THE SORROW OF SUICIDE

~The Sun of China~

As you may know, suicide statistics are getting higher over the years, potentially due to economic recessions around the world (http://economiccrisis.us/2010/08/rising-suicide-rate-worldwide-linked-economic-crisis-expert/).  According to 2011 studies, countries like Japan and China are in the top 10 for countries with the largest suicide percentages

You may have met someone who has struggled with thoughts of suicide.  You may have considered it yourself.  In a troubled world, what do we have to combat the feelings of depression?  As a firm believer in God, I believe that we have the Word of God to protect us.  I have compiled a list of scriptures to add to our spiritual arsenal and may be helpful to that friend in need.

·         1st Corinthians 7:10

10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
THE SORROW OF THE WORLD BRINGS SUICIDE.

·         Mormon 2:13

13 But behold this my joy was vain, for their sorrowing was not unto repentance, because of the goodness of God; but it was rather the sorrowing of the damned, because the Lord would not always suffer them to take happiness in sin.
THERE IS ALWAYS A CONSEQUENCE FOR OUR ACTIONS.

·         Proverbs 15:13

13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
SORROW IS SPIRITUAL

·         Alma 41:10

10 Do not suppose, because it has been spoken concerning restoration, that ye shall be restored from sin to happiness. Behold, I say unto you, wickedness never was happiness.
DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND? SIN IS SORROW!

·         Doctrine and Covenants 39:9

9 Nevertheless, thou hast seen great sorrow, for thou hast rejected me many times because of pride and the cares of the world.
FOCUS ON THE WORLD = REJECTING GOD

·         Psalms 32:10

10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.
EVEN IF YOU HAVE MADE MISTAKES, TRUST IN GOD’S MERCY.

·         Isaiah 53:3

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we, like sheep, have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquities of us all.
CHRIST HAS PAID THE PRICE AND WILL MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE.

·         MOSIAH 3:7

7 And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.
DON’T ADD TO HIS SUFFERINGS! REPENT!

·         John 16:22

22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
WHEN JESUS COMES INTO YOUR LIFE, YOU SHALL REJOICE!

·         Revelation 21:4

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
GOD WILL TAKE AWAY THE PAIN

·         Job 6:10

10 Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.
WHY DO SOME HARDEN THEIR HEARTS AGAINST HIM TO CONTINUE IN SORROW?

·         Alma 37:45

45 And now I say, is there not a type in this thing? For just as surely as this director did bring our fathers, by following its course, to the promised land, shall the words of Christ, if we follow their course, carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into a far better land of promise.
THE WORD OF GOD LEADS US AWAY FROM SORROW.

·         John 16:33

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
THE WORLD BRINGS YOU SORROW, BUT CHIRST HAS OVERCOME THE WORLD!

·         1 John 5:4

4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
IF WE ARE BAPTISED IN BODY AND SPIRIT, WE CAN ALSO OVERCOME THE WORLD.

·         Romans 12:21

21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
DON’T LET SORROW OVERCOME YOU.  OVERCOME SORROW WITH GOOD WORKS!

Thank you for your support to our beloved friends who may be struggling with thoughts of suicide.  If you have any experiences or other ideas for how to help someone work through these type of feelings, please share in the comments!

THE CONCEPT OF POWER

~The Sun of China~

Power is the most essential unit of our universe.  Without power, nothing could exist.  Nothing could continue to exist.  The concept of power is the only thing that can create anything good in this world.

The idea that power is evil should be rejected.

This image, though funny, illustrates an interesting point.  The concept of power.  The abuse of power.  The misconceptions surrounding power.

Power is often cast in a very bad light.  People are often portrayed as not liking those in power, whether it is your boss, or the president, somehow, those people are evil.

But what people don't understand about the concept of power, is that power in and of itself is completely neutral.  Just like a gun, power can be used for both good and ill.

Power comes on many levels.  Whether it is social power, economic power, or military power, these things can be used for both good and ill.  The fact that some source of power might be used for ill does not justify the abandonment of or demonizing of said source of power.

Power is the ability to do ~

The only way to accomplish your goals is to first obtain the power to do so, and then implement that power.
If your goal is to have a good career, raise a family, and have a nice retirement, you must first obtain power.
Getting a good education will give you the abilities that equate to power in the workforce.

Any good goal in life requires power.  Some people want to get themselves out of debt, but they feel helpless.  This is because they lack sufficient power to accomplish their goals.

Power can equate to personal talents, skills, intelligence, time, finances, networking, self-control, health, physical strength, persuasiveness, attractiveness, resources, and much more.  To say that any of these qualities are evil is foolishness.

Everyone is looking for power, they just don't know it.  No body terms it that way, but that is essentially what it is.  Everyone wants to improve their life.  But what they don't realize is that the only way to do so is to obtain more power.

Society should not demonize power and glamorize the lack there of.  For society to be successful, it needs to reward (positive reinforcement) the "do-ers" and punish (negative reinforcement) the "lazy bums".

In a free society, no one on top can stop you from being successful.  Only you can.  The blame game must stop.  If your boss is making the most money, stop complaining, start your own company and become the boss!  When you realize that it is harder than it looks, maybe you will respect your boss a little more.

Why do CEO's make the most money?  Because the value of the whole company hinges upon their decisions!  If a 22 million dollar company lives or dies based on one person, how valuable do you think that person is?  Are you going to hire some bum off the street to handle such a responsibility?  No!  You will hire the most qualified individual!  What if such qualified individuals are rare?  Then you will pay more to obtain them.  Different companies hire corporate executives from each other all the time.  They pay them BIG BUCKS because that is what their decision making skills are worth ~  its the whole value of the company in their hands.  Instead of complaining about how the top 1% make more than everyone else, why don't you try to become as valuable as they are???  In a free society, the market balances what you get with what you give out.  You don't get paid more that the value of what you can do.

It is good to have Power if it is used in the right way.
Power is never evil, only the people using power can be evil.
Power in and of itself is neutral.

The next time you start to complain, stop and say "what can I do about that?"
Because your act of "doing" is your power.

The next time you want to complain about the taxes, laws, or the president, maybe you should think inwardly.  After all, you are the one with the power.  You are the one that can vote for the taxes.  You are the one that can lobby for changes to the laws.  You are the one that has the power to pick the president and help him campaign.  If you are not exercising your power, then you have no right to complain.

And if you ever feel that you aren't accomplishing your goals, think, am I using my resources?  Do I have the power?  If you find that you are wasting things like, time, money, and health, you may need to change your habits.  Which habits make you stronger and which make you weaker?  Which activities help you accomplish your goals and which distract you?  Learning self-control in and of itself will bring great power into your life.

Please, don't demonize power.  Demonize the villain.  As in our favorite superhero movies, there is always the theme, "With great power comes great responsibility".  As responsible citizens, we should all strive for more power so we can be heroes to those around us!

WHAT'S THEIR PROBLEM WITH ROMNEY?

February 22, 2012
As governor of one of the most liberal states in the union, Mitt Romney did something even Ronald Reagan didn't do as governor of California: He balanced the budget without raising taxes.
Romney became deeply pro-life as governor of the aforementioned liberal state and vetoed an embryonic stem cell bill. (Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich lobbied President George W. Bush to allow embryonic stem cell research.)
Romney's approach to illegal immigration in Massachusetts resembled what Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona is doing today, making her a right-wing heroine.
Romney pushed the conservative alternative to national health care that, had it been adopted in the 49 other states, would have killed Obamacare in the crib by solving the health insurance problem at the state level.
Unlike actual Establishment candidates, Romney has never worked in Washington, much less spent his entire life as a professional politician. He's had a Midas touch with every enterprise he has ever run, including Bain Capital, the Olympics and Massachusetts.
The chestnut about Mitt Romney being pushed on unsuspecting conservatives by "the Establishment" is the exact opposite of the truth. The Establishment, by any sensible definition, is virulently opposed to Romney -- and for completely contradictory reasons.
The entire NFM (non-Fox media) hate Romney because he is the only candidate who stands a chance of beating Obama.
Meanwhile, many of the pillars of the conservative establishment also implacably oppose Romney. Fox News is neutral, but its second-highest-rated host, Sean Hannity, is unenthusiastic about Romney, as is prominent Fox News contributor Sarah Palin, who has told Fox viewers she'd vote for Gingrich -- and also offered herself up as a possible presidential nominee at a contested convention. (Wouldn't a former candidate for vice president on a major party's ticket be part of the Establishment?)
The No. 1 conservative talk-radio host in America, Rush Limbaugh, is critical of Romney, and another top conservative talk-radio host, Mark Levin, is adamantly against Romney -- though both Limbaugh and Levin supported Romney as the conservative alternative to John McCain in 2008, and Romney has only gotten better since then.
Purely to hurt Romney, the Iowa Republican Party fiddled with the vote tally to take Romney's victory away from him and give it to Rick Santorum -- even though the "official count" was missing eight precincts. Isn't the party apparatus of a state considered part of the Establishment?
I'm not sure what part of the Establishment supports Romney. Is it Romney supporter Christine O'Donnell, erstwhile tea party candidate for the U.S. Senate from Delaware? Am I the face of the Establishment? (If so, the country is going to be just fine.)
I would think that the pristine example of the Republican Establishment is Weekly Standard editor and Fox News contributor Bill Kristol. But he wants anybody but Romney, even proposing that we choose someone not running by means of a contested convention.
Who are we trying to get nominated in a contested convention, anyway?
Without having seen this mystery candidate in action, how do we know he won't be another Rick Perry? You'll recall that Perry was the dream candidate until we saw him talk.
In 2008, Romney was enthusiastically supported not only by Limbaugh and Levin, but also by Sean Hannity, Rick Santorum, Herman Cain, Laura Ingraham, Michael Savage and many others who now seem to view Romney as a closet liberal. This is especially baffling because there is no liberal candidate in the Republican primary this year.
Just four years ago, one Republican candidate for president was avowedly pro-abortion (Rudy Giuliani). One had opposed Clinton's impeachment and tort reform (Fred Thompson). One supported amnesty for illegals, restrictions on core First Amendment speech, federal laws to combat nonexistent global warming, and opposed Guantanamo and the Bush tax cuts ("tax cuts for the rich!") and called waterboarding "torture."
That last one was our nominee: John McCain.
This year, every Republican candidate for president opposes abortion, promises to repeal Obamacare, opposes raising taxes, and on and on. Only one candidate is strong on illegal immigration, which is second only to repealing Obamacare as the most important issue facing the nation.
That's the alleged liberal, Mitt Romney.
Conservatives scratch their heads wondering how the NFM can convince millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans paying $3.57 for a gallon of gas that the economy is improving simply by repeatedly saying so.
But then a large minority of those same conservatives are completely convinced that Romney is an Establishment candidate simply because they have heard that repeated so often.
As we say to dunderhead liberals: What we're looking for here is facts, not chants or epithets.
But instead of popping Champagne corks over our final triumph over Rockefeller Republicanism, some conservatives are still fighting old wars, rather like an old cold warrior prattling about the Soviet Union after the rest of us have moved onto the war on terrorism.
This strange new version of right-wing populism comes down to reveling in the feeling that you are being dissed, hoodwinked or manipulated by the Establishment (most of which happens to oppose Romney) the same way liberals want to believe that "the rich," the "right-wing media" and Wall Street Republicans (there are three) are victimizing them.
It's as if scoring points in intra-Republican squabbles is more important than beating Obama. Instead of talking about the candidates' positions -- which would be confusing inasmuch as Romney is the most conservative of the four remaining candidates -- the only issue seems to be whether "They" are showing respect for "Us."
Striking a pose as the only true fighter for real Americans may be fun, but this is no way to win elections. This is Sharron Angle on a national level.
The obsession with sticking it to the Establishment (which includes Christine O'Donnell, but excludes Bill Kristol) by voting for a loose cannon demagogue or a crusading Catholic who can't seem to move the conversation past contraception is as pie-in-the-sky delusional as anything dished by Democrats carrying on about "green jobs."
If saving the environment is the best way to create new jobs, then it could be true that being a hard-core environmentalist nutcase is the best way to appeal to the mass of independent voters.
Similarly, if reducing contraception use, lobbying for Freddie Mac and promoting huge government programs such as moon colonies and No Child Left Behind are the best ways to create jobs, then it could be true that Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum are our strongest candidates in a general election.
Of course, it might also be true that dousing yourself in fairy dust does not guarantee that you will find the perfect mate and get the perfect job.
We're being asked to hand Obama another four years in the White House in order to "send a message." To whom? And what message? That we're morons? Message received!
Meanwhile, Romney cheerfully campaigns on, the biggest outsider and most conservative candidate we've run for president since Reagan, while being denounced by the Establishment as "too Establishment."

WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR ECONOMY?

~The Sun of China~

What's wrong with our economy? A strong economy is all about the ability to produce value. If the economy is going down, there will always be a connection to GDP (Gross Domestic Product).  But all the economic mumbo jumbo can ultimately be reduced to one word, “value”.   As long as you can create value greater than the cost, you will have a a productive system; and if you have a productive system, the economy will grow.  But instead of providing incentives to the people companies that produce the most value, we tax them the most. And then we reward the people and companies who produce the least (nonprofit organizations, environmental organizations, humanitarian organizations, etc).... Our system of benefits is all screwed up and it can be seen in society.
We need to reward progression!  Not the lack thereof.  Education needs to stop being so frivolously political and actually teach kids valuable skills. Instead of people always saying "You need to do what you love!" they should say, "You need to do something of value!" A job will never exist for someone whose value is less than the salary of the job.  If a kid comes out of high school learning just one valuable skill, he will have a job. Why not let kids do internships in high school? Imagine if high school students learned how to do plumbing, tailoring, or recycling management as a part of their education? All those valuable skills can be put to use!
Why do sales taxes tax everything that companies produce, but services get all the deductions?? Which is of more value to the economy, services or products? Why punish the products but give benefits to the services? Imagine if instead of the US having 76.7% of its economy due to services, we converted more of that workforce into producing something of value? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tertiary_sector_of_the_economy
The poor man who makes and sells custom backpacks gets three levels of taxation, sales tax, corporation income tax, personal income tax... while the lawyer, who only exists because the government created too many rules for the poor man to keep track of, only has to pay one level of tax, personal income tax.... the poor man is productive and punished, the lawyer just messes around with artificial rules and is benefited. We need change ~
America has been blessed with more freedoms, natural resources, and open land than almost any other country, why should we struggle to produce value? It’s right beneath our feet!!  But no, Obama sets up another artificial rule that stops the drilling of oil!!!!  When will people get it through their heads?  Stop punishing the people who want to produce something of value!
Imagine this, a bunch of people live off of the people who produce value and then spend their time thinking up crazy and complicated rules (laws). Then a whole bunch of lawyers need to be hired to argue the rules, these also live off of the people who produce value. Then a whole bunch of accountants/ consultants/etc. need to be hired to make sure people are following the rules (these also live off of the people that produce value). Then a whole bunch of enforcers need to be hired to make sure people follow the rules (these also live off of the people who produce value)....A huge sector of the economy is artificially created by "rules"... Why don't we simplify the rules so we can take that burden off of the "productive" sector? Imagine if all the lawyers and accountants stopped messing around with paper all day and actually produced something of value for our economy?
Romney has always been the expert on creating productive systems.  He is the only one with major business experience and actual value creating decisions.  As a Sales Tax Expert and a CEO of a small business myself, I know and trust Romney to make the necessary decisions to get America back on track.
