THE CONCEPT OF POWER

~The Sun of China~

Power is the most essential unit of our universe.  Without power, nothing could exist.  Nothing could continue to exist.  The concept of power is the only thing that can create anything good in this world.

The idea that power is evil should be rejected.

This image, though funny, illustrates an interesting point.  The concept of power.  The abuse of power.  The misconceptions surrounding power.

Power is often cast in a very bad light.  People are often portrayed as not liking those in power, whether it is your boss, or the president, somehow, those people are evil.

But what people don't understand about the concept of power, is that power in and of itself is completely neutral.  Just like a gun, power can be used for both good and ill.

Power comes on many levels.  Whether it is social power, economic power, or military power, these things can be used for both good and ill.  The fact that some source of power might be used for ill does not justify the abandonment of or demonizing of said source of power.

Power is the ability to do ~

The only way to accomplish your goals is to first obtain the power to do so, and then implement that power.
If your goal is to have a good career, raise a family, and have a nice retirement, you must first obtain power.
Getting a good education will give you the abilities that equate to power in the workforce.

Any good goal in life requires power.  Some people want to get themselves out of debt, but they feel helpless.  This is because they lack sufficient power to accomplish their goals.

Power can equate to personal talents, skills, intelligence, time, finances, networking, self-control, health, physical strength, persuasiveness, attractiveness, resources, and much more.  To say that any of these qualities are evil is foolishness.

Everyone is looking for power, they just don't know it.  No body terms it that way, but that is essentially what it is.  Everyone wants to improve their life.  But what they don't realize is that the only way to do so is to obtain more power.

Society should not demonize power and glamorize the lack there of.  For society to be successful, it needs to reward (positive reinforcement) the "do-ers" and punish (negative reinforcement) the "lazy bums".

In a free society, no one on top can stop you from being successful.  Only you can.  The blame game must stop.  If your boss is making the most money, stop complaining, start your own company and become the boss!  When you realize that it is harder than it looks, maybe you will respect your boss a little more.

Why do CEO's make the most money?  Because the value of the whole company hinges upon their decisions!  If a 22 million dollar company lives or dies based on one person, how valuable do you think that person is?  Are you going to hire some bum off the street to handle such a responsibility?  No!  You will hire the most qualified individual!  What if such qualified individuals are rare?  Then you will pay more to obtain them.  Different companies hire corporate executives from each other all the time.  They pay them BIG BUCKS because that is what their decision making skills are worth ~  its the whole value of the company in their hands.  Instead of complaining about how the top 1% make more than everyone else, why don't you try to become as valuable as they are???  In a free society, the market balances what you get with what you give out.  You don't get paid more that the value of what you can do.

It is good to have Power if it is used in the right way.
Power is never evil, only the people using power can be evil.
Power in and of itself is neutral.

The next time you start to complain, stop and say "what can I do about that?"
Because your act of "doing" is your power.

The next time you want to complain about the taxes, laws, or the president, maybe you should think inwardly.  After all, you are the one with the power.  You are the one that can vote for the taxes.  You are the one that can lobby for changes to the laws.  You are the one that has the power to pick the president and help him campaign.  If you are not exercising your power, then you have no right to complain.

And if you ever feel that you aren't accomplishing your goals, think, am I using my resources?  Do I have the power?  If you find that you are wasting things like, time, money, and health, you may need to change your habits.  Which habits make you stronger and which make you weaker?  Which activities help you accomplish your goals and which distract you?  Learning self-control in and of itself will bring great power into your life.

Please, don't demonize power.  Demonize the villain.  As in our favorite superhero movies, there is always the theme, "With great power comes great responsibility".  As responsible citizens, we should all strive for more power so we can be heroes to those around us!
